Japan helps Nepal build a new airport tower
On October 13, 2026, JICA said Japan and Nepal had signed an agreement for a new control tower at Kathmandu's airport.
On October 8, 2026, Japan and Nepal signed an agreement. Japan will help Nepal build a new control tower. It will stand at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. JICA, Japan's aid agency, shared the news on October 13.
Steep mountains cover most of Nepal. So planes are very important for travel there. Tribhuvan is the biggest international airport in Nepal. High mountains are all around it. In 2024, the airport had about 9.4 million passengers.
